MIRIAM ROTHSCHILD (b.1908 - d. 2005)

Growing up at the Rothschild home in Tring, both Rothschild and her sister Pannonica were surrounded by zebras, wild ostriches, emus and giant tortoises. Rothschild was a distinguished scientist who published pioneering papers in parasitology and wrote on a vast array of subjects relating to botany and the environment. A consummate polymath, her accomplishments also included playing tennis and squash for England, starting The National Dragonfly Museum, being a trustee of the Natural History Museum, visiting professor in biology at the Royal Free Hospital, and working for the Foreign Office during the war.

Q- what did your mother want for her three daughters?

MR To get married and live happily ever after with a family. That’s all.
